The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a dystopian fantasy set in Panem, a society divided into districts ruled by a ruthless Capitol. It follows Katniss Everdeen, who becomes an unexpected symbol of resistance after volunteering to take her sister’s place in the brutal Hunger Games, which is a televised fight to the death. Across three books (The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay), Katniss confronts survival, loyalty, and the cost of rebellion as she fights against the Capitol. Their are two extra books to the series, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which is a prequel about the life of Coriolanus Snow, and Sunrise on the Reaping, which is a prequel about the Second Quarter Quell, Haymitch Abernathy’s Hunger Games. It is quite a violent series, but I think it is a 12+ or 13+.
